The South America team will go on mission to Ecuador on 7-13 March. We will demand authorities take real and effective measures to grant justice and protection to human rights defenders in Ecuador, who are currently forced to risk their lives to carry out their work.
On 9 March, we will host a press conference in Quito and meet the Attorney General to hand over more than 200K signatures in support of the Amazonian women and human rights defenders in Ecuador. We call on you to organize your own petition handover event to deliver the signatures to the Ecuador embassy in your country. You can also send tweets to Ecuador’s Attorney General (@DianaSalazarM2; @FiscaliaEcuador), calling on her to identify the attackers of the Amazonian women and to create an investigation protocol for crimes against human rights defenders. On 12 March, we will issue a press release with our observations after the mission. All campaign materials, including the new Action Circular, are available here. Communications materials recorded during this mission will be available in the coming months.
